There was only one thing I could write about today. It is with great pride that I announce that Bring Smiles to Seniors crossed the 40,000 mark for cards delivered in 2018.  As a matter of fact, we are at 40,515 and I could not be more grateful.

We started this year with a goal of delivering 20,000 cards. We had delivered 18,810 cards in 2017 and we were not really sure what our incoming supply of cards was going to be like in 2018. However, all the stars aligned to get us more exposure to card artists across the country and it just started to snowball. For the first time this year we did not have to buy one card. Every one of the 40,000 cards delivered was donated by someone, somewhere in the world.

As amazing as those donated cards are, equally as important are the decorators, schools, civic groups and now corporate participants that decorate for us. Some of our card artists like to write their own message which is awesome and helpful. Others send us blank cards to use with our partners. That is where we involve others in remembering the importance of honoring those that paved the way for us.

I started this program with one senior community and one batch of cards. With the help of our volunteers Linda, Renee, Diane, Liane and Becky and the good old fashioned mail we have made 515 senior community deliveries in addition to  our home delivery program. Every card represents a smiling senior. The fact that that has happened over 40,000 times in 2018 is astounding.

I am humbly grateful for every single person involved in this program. I have no idea what 2019 has in store for us. However, if it is anything like 2018 it is going to be magical.
